If getting voted out when you don't expect to is called a blindside, what is staying when you expect to get voted out called?
Thiago and Bree swung to my side, and I have to say today is the first time I've ever really successfully pulled off a big move in Survivor. Thiago told me that he knew I was telling the truth the whole time, but he didn't want it to get back to Knox. I'm glad people realize that I was being honest.
I think a major reason why Knox was voted off was because of how mean he was being to me. I mean, you'll have to see whatever Thiago wrote, but he basically felt bad about voting Gloria out and just didn't want to vote me out before Knox is what he said.
During that 30 minutes I told Ben that they might split the vote and that Bree would be the most likely person. We were deciding whether to vote Bree or Knox. Ben let it be my decision because I was going home if we messed up. I'm glad I made the right call.
Afterwards I offered Thiago and Bree a F4 deal. Bree said yes. Thiago oddly enough said no because Ben is such a big threat. He also gave me permission to vote him out next. It was strange.
On the bright side it means that if neither Ben or I win immunity, Ben will probably be voted out first. So, it could put me in the middle of a 2-2-1 situation at F5 if that happens. I'm not sure who the biggest threat between Thiago, Mark and I is. I suppose the F3 I'd be most likely to win is Bree, Zac and myself.
I guess the path I'm envisioning is
6. Ben
5. Mark
4. Thiago
But I think we've seen how unpredictable this game is. So shocked that I'm still here. I'm real curious what Knox's FTC question would be in that situation.
That being said, it would be nice to have Ben around. If I don't win, I would like him to. Thiago is nice too.
Mark has gotten somewhat annoyed at being lied to by Ben multiple times. That being said, he was lying to Ben each time as well, so it's kind of a wash, which makes Mark's reactions a bit less sympathetic. Not that I dislike him really, just that having somebody who is lying get lied to just makes me shrug.
It's a relief not to have to deal with Knox anymore. I think he took this game a bit far, which is probably what ended up being his downfall. I must admit some satisfaction at outlasting him after he told me that I don't know how to play this game. For the most part it's just kind of sad that he acted that way. He is either so invested in this game that he thinks it's an appropriate way to act, or he's so immature that he thinks it's an appropriate way to act. I'd rather it be the first, because I know I've grown a little bit out of how seriously I take these games.
It's nice to be vindicated, but at the same time I like to think about a quote from a great poem called If by Rudyard Kipling.
I just looked it up, and the whole verse fits even better than I remembered:
"If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools...
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!"
You know, win or lose this is a game. I'd like to win, but there's 6 of us left, and I think 4 of us have a shot at it. Much better odds than when I started, but by no means a guarantee. I think it is a mistake to assume that there's an easy way to win game like this. Everybody has their own ideas, and there's a certain amount of luck involved as well. I think Thiago and Bree are the only ones who have known how each vote was going to go down, and who knows if they were sure.
You never know if people are going to have an off day, a good day, feel incredibly generous or whatever. I felt kind of antsy the day I PM'd Thiago, so who knows if maybe I wouldn't have done that otherwise. What would have happened if somebody had found an idol before Gloria?
Basically, while I think I would be a deserving winner, I don't think I'm the only deserving winner. Only one of us can claim victory, and I'd like to be that one.
I play cribbage a lot. Cribbage is a card game where you score points through a variety of ways. You can score a lot of points if you get good cards, but there is a fair amount of skill involved also. So, it's like that in that if you win or lose any given game doesn't necessarily mean that you were a good or bad player. You can make good moves and get bad luck or bad moves and get good luck. I think on the whole I made good decisions this game and it's worked out for me so far, so whether I win or not I think I've played a good game.
